Why do you love Essaouira?

The influences of Berber, Portuguese and even Carthiginian cultures pervade a very atmospheric whitewashed medina and bustling harbour. A lovely place to relax for a few days.

What is it?

Probably the best-known coastal town in Morocco. It is notoriously windy and a magnet for kite surfers and wind surfers.

Where is it?

South of Casablanca and West of Marrakech.

Who is it right for?

If you like a road trip, the drive from Marrakech to Essaouira is spectacular.
