Mozambique
Beach, snorkelling, diving, bird watching, fishing
Its turbulent history ravaged both its economy and the once-superb wildlife but Mozambique’s coastline and offshore islands have remained wonderfully unspoilt. Here, primeval mangrove swamps alternate with powder-white beaches - and low-impact development is being carefully and successfully integrated with a unique marine habitat. The diving and fishing are superb in the waters of the offshore islands, where a handful of fabulous, Crusoe-chic hideaways have been created.
The (sometimes long) travelling time makes this a destination for the more adventurous traveller - but the untouched regions here are simply beautiful and definitely worth the effort to get to.
In Mozambique’s interior, although the government is making huge leaps in the process of repairing the damage wrought by its 20-year civil war, it’s still very early days for travellers. However, as with all the countries that we specialise in, we constantly monitor the situation and keep a look out for new properties that will satisfy the comfort-loving adventurer in all of us.
Best visited: April to December
All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide, we can arrange ten days in Mozambique including flights from £4200/ $6385 per person.
