Seychelles

Scuba diving, snorkelling, beach, fishing, sailing

With its mix of low-lying coral islands and dramatic granitic rocks, picture-perfect beaches and warm, crystalline waters, this archipelago of 115 islands scattered across the Indian Ocean would seem to be the paradigm of a do-nothing tropical paradise. But there’s more to the Seychelles than that: myriad different ecosystems, some of them still completely untamed, provide rich and varied flora, while the wildlife ranges from the rare giant tortoise to hundreds of species of birds.

In the past, the islands’ natural beauty has been a let down for really sophisticated travellers; namely for the standard of its hotels and service. But no longer; the Seychelles now has a handful of the best small hotels in the world (as well as too many over-hyped also-rans). It’s another of those places where your choice of hotel – and the specific room or suite in that hotel – can make or break your trip, so we strongly advise you to ask our experts for advice.

Best visited: February to December

All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide, we can arrange ten days in the Seychelles (not including flights) from £2500/ $3750 per person.
