Colonial cities North of Mexico City - Mexico

''The wealth required to build so many ornate cities over such a long period of time is testament to the mineral riches of Mexico.'' Jenny Wilkinson

Why do you love the colonial cities North of Mexico City?

Some really good small hotels and excellent guides mean that we can plan itineraries which take in a number of towns/cities by car. The further North, the less tourists.

What is it?

Some of Mexico's finest 17th and 18th Century architecture is in the mineral rich towns and cities to the North of Mexico City.

Where is it?

San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato are the most visited but there are half a dozen other towns/cities with equally exceptional colonial architecture.

Who is it right for?

Culture vultures.
