Madagascar holidays

Africa + Indian Ocean

Enchanting wildlife, Remote wilderness, Unspoilt beaches, Tropical island

The whole country is bursting with untamed jungle, enchanting wildlife, captivating scenery and beautiful beaches.

Madagascar encapsulates a range of different experiences all in one destination. In the East you can experience the Andasibe National Park, home to the endangered Indri, the largest member of the Lemur Family. Spot Humpback whales from Ile Sainte Marie Island.

Learn about the Malagasy culture and their fascinating beliefs and customs in the South, and view some of the most stunning landscapes of sandstone rock formation. Here you can see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. And take a hike through the canyons of I’salo National Park.

Visit the Gallery and spiny forests home to vast numbers of Ring tailed lemurs, and Sifikas. Or the infamous avenue of Baobabs and the world heritage site Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve. And in the remote west, sit back and relax on some of the most unspoiled beaches we have come across and stay in one of Madagascar’s more luxurious lodges.

Madagascar is a tropical island with many micro climates so can be visited throughout the year but the recommended months are May to October.

All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide we can arrange ten days in Madagascar excluding from £4200 per person.

“I didn’t just want a safari. That was a bit normal – I felt everyone does that”

discover ILe Sainte Marie island

There is so much to discover, from July to September Humpback whales pass Ile Sainte Marie, and the island is rich with history; it was a refuge for pirates who roamed the African coast during the 17th and 18th Century. Just off the East coast of Madagascar, it has unspoilt beaches and fringed by palm trees.

As every one of the holidays we create is unique, all of our clients come back with different and interesting stories. We love to hear from our clients on their return to find out about their most memorable moments. We from c+l are also always travelling to our destinations and every trip allows us to refine and add value to our clients' future experiences.

Flora and Fauna in madagascar

A recent trip taken by some clients to Madagascar proved very fruitful. Part of their focus was to take advantage of the diving opportunities off the North East coast of the Island but their 13 night adventure also gave them opportunities to see the endemic flora and fauna that Madagascar is so well known for.

Our relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and the teams are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

Andreas Miha

wildlife guide Madagascar

Andreas has such wide experience of his home, Madagascar, that his guiding ability is quite exceptional.  Having worked as a scientific guide, helping researchers and scientists discover the unique fauna and flora of the island, his knowledge goes far beyond that of most guides in Africa let alone Madagascar. Indeed, he has worked for many documentary film crews including the BBC, testament to the trust that experts have in his ability to bring the marvels of the environment to life.  However, Andreas’ most defining achievement is having helped identify the Grey-Brown Mouse Lemur, there can be few guides as well-qualified as Andreas and we feel fortunate to have such a good relationship with him ourselves.
Andreas’ favourite challenge is taking a group of clients out who are not overly interested in wildlife and making them so enthusiastic that they do not want to leave.  His passion is infectious, whether as a lemur expert, out on an early morning birding walk or introducing his clients to the culturally rich Antandroy Region.
A truly unique guide will teach you about the environment, rather than merely observing it: you will feel and sense the wildlife with Andreas, making for a very memorable safari.

The choice of what is best for the client is our only consideration
