RENOWNED FOR HAVING THE MOST QUALIFIED GUIDES IN AFRICA

Africa + Indian Ocean

Zimbabwe

Excellent Safari Guides, The Magnificient Victoria Falls, adrenalin rushing adventure, Luxury Safari

A beautiful and fascinating country, with the magnificent Victoria Falls, large wildlife reserves, great tracts of untamed wilderness and the evocative ruins of Great Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe offers much to inspire the visitor.

Victoria Falls, the main tourist hub of the country, still has a plethora of activities to offer, with a healthy dose of adrenalin for the adventurous.

Having had little demand for Zimbabwe over the last ten years, we are noticing like many of our industry friends, a renewed interest. This magnificent country, once our most visited African destination is opening up again and many of the guides and owners who sought work elsewhere in the world are returning.

Zimbabwe had always been renowned for having the best qualified guides in Africa which to us is the key element of any safari experience. It is wonderful that so many of them are now back in their rightful place whether it be walking in Mana Pools or sitting with guests in a hide in Hwange National Park which still has  one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa.

Having spent time recently with one of Zimbabwe’s most respected safari guides, there is no doubt in our mind, that the game viewing is still at the top of the league.

All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide, we can arrange a ten day Zimbabwe safari or holiday (excluding flights) from £3700 per person.

Fly Camping in Matusadona

Luxury camping in the wild Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has, historically, some of the best guides in Africa and they like nothing more than to set up basic canvas tented camps in a park like Matusadona. The feeling of wildness and the close proximity to Africa’s big game (by day and night) is truly exciting.

Hippos, Hippos, Hippos

Experience the ultimate hippo sighting Zimbabwe

During her years of living in Africa, Henrietta discovered she had a huge love of hippos. Her greatest hippo memory is that of the time she visited Mana Pools on the great Zambezi River in Zimbabwe. She had a very close encounter with a huge pod of hippo and with her guide they avoided any danger.

a lazy afternoon by the pool

The ultimate elephant experience Zambia

Claire Ferguson recently ventured back to Zimbabwe to explore some of the camps that cazenove+loyd highly recommend. During the dry season, Zimbabwe relies on 'pumped' water pans, which allowed Claire to sit back and watch the elephant come straight up to the watering hole, which made for an experience worth missing a game drive for.

Guides

Our relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and the teams are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

ant kaschula

walking safari guide Zimbabwe Africa

At cazenove+loyd we feel very fortunate to have worked for years with such a talented and knowledgeable guide as Ant Kaschula.  He is one of the new school and was introduced to us by one of the old school- Garth Thompson. As a third generation Zimbabwean, he and his family have seen the highs and lows of his country’s recent past.  But he has total faith in its beauty and quality as a destination for the ultimate safari, a view we wholeheartedly agree with.

Ant provides completely personal safaris to suit his clients; he is charismatic and consumed with passion for the Africa he has lived and breathed from birth.  In a country whose guiding qualifications are some of the continent’s toughest and where only 5% pass, he qualified in the shortest ever known time whilst apprenticed under Ivan Carter, one of Zimbabwe's best. You can be guaranteed many fascinating, intrepid and life-changing moments on a camping safari with Ant; through his intuition and work with loyal trackers you will find yourself at one moment encountering a leopard with its kill high up in a tree and at the next camping in the middle of nowhere star-gazing by an open fire.  Zimbabwe is a very special place and in Ant’s safe hands, you can experience its wonders for yourselves.
