The Galapagos

Extraordinary Islands, Exotic Wildlife, Luxury Yachts, Scuba Diving, excellent guiding

A trip to the Galapagos is universally accepted to be one of the most unforgettable encounters with wildlife on the planet. Nothing can prepare you for the thrill that you will experience through the intimate contact with the creatures that inhabit these extraordinary islands.

It is best to visit the islands via a seven night cruise and we favour the smaller yachts which give a more personal experience and an excellent guide to passenger ratio.

Every evening the guides will talk you through the activities for the following day.
These will include everything from snorkelling or diving, to hiking along lava tunnels, swimming with sea lions and bird watching.

The Galapagos can be visited at any time of the year but the migrating animals arrive from June to November, when the weather is cooler.  It is best to seek advice from our destination experts so that you don’t miss out on the highlights.

Best visited: all year round

All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide, we can arrange seven nights in the Galapagos (not including international flights) from £4000 per person.
WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY
“I am able to tell you that without exception, all the people I talked to wished they had had a trip as organised as mine was”

Guides

Our relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and the teams are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

david paez

naturalist guide

private wildlife quide Glapagos

David was born in Quito in 1982 but, because his father was a naval officer, he went to school in three different Ecuadorean cities as well as in Santiago de Chile. His mother was born in the Galápagos and so every school holidays he would visit his grandparents in San Cristóbal Island: this sowed the seed of his fascination for the archipelago.

Before university, he went as an exchange student to the USA and improved his English whilst in Franklin, North Carolina. On his return to Ecuador he studied Biology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and graduated in 2008.
Due to his curiosity and passion for the natural world, and specifically the evolution and ecology of the Galápagos Islands, David became a Naturalist Guide, licensed by the Galápagos National Park Service, in March 2009. Since then, he has honed his skills as a guide working on one of the best boats in the Galapagos and particularly guiding on foot in the different habitats which is, he believes, the only way to understand the detail of what is happening in the natural world.
There are few of his relatively young age who combine the training of a scientist with the different set of communication and empathy which make a great guide. Not surprisingly, he is one of an elite cadre of guides who are rated ‘First Class’.

Reviews

At c+l, we have no vested interest in the hotels and lodges which we select - we review everything and choose the best for a particular client. And because we visit our three regions on a regular basis and have details conversations with over 90% of our clients on their return, our choices can be refined continually. The choice of what is best for the client is our only consideration.

The galapagos safari camp

wildlife safari camp in the Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Safari camp has brought a new concept to the Galapagos Islands namely an African style tented camp on the island of Santa Cruz. It is the first eco-luxury tented camp in Ecuador a 55 hectare farm bordering the national park and only a short journey to the sea. The tents are erected above ground on a wooden platform, a stylish central lodge and an infinity pool, all with views overlooking the tumbling landscape below. It is the perfect place to chill out before or after a Galapagos cruise, or as the base for your Galapagos adventure if you don’t quite have the sea legs for it.

The Grace

luxury wildlife cruise Galapagos Islands

This motor yacht has a stellar past, including ownership by millionaire tycoons, a stint in the British navy and it was a wedding present to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco, (where the boat gets its current name). The Grace is one of the smallest boats servicing the area, taking just 18 guests. Not only does this mean that the boat has an extremely personal atmosphere, it also means you are able to visit almost any island (whereas with the larger ships some of the islands are off limits). It is also certainly the go-to boat for lovers of history as well as wildlife.
