Costa Rica

high cloud Rainforest, fiery volcanoes, exotic wildlife, adventure for everyone

From the drama of fiery volcanoes to the eerie stillness of the high cloud forests, from its lush jungles to the wild Pacific shore, roaring waterfalls to still lakes, Costa Rica is staggeringly beautiful. And it is brimming over with rich and strange wildlife: giant sea turtles, tree-climbing iguanas and more than 850 species of birds.

With 75% of its area designated as nature reserve, and sheltering an extraordinary 5% of the planet's flora and fauna, Costa Rica has been a pioneer in nature- and eco-tourism.

Accommodation in Costa Rica.

We have uncovered stunning lodges and small boutique hotels, ideally situated in some of the country’s most beautiful spots. Added to this, the high standard of guiding we organise makes Costa Rica one of the most attractive destinations in the Americas.

When should I visit Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is best visited between October to June.

All itineraries are individually designed, but as a guide, we can arrange ten days in Costa Rica (not including flights) from £3000 per person.

“We have been to one or two outlandish locations around the world and in doing so have received a mixed service from travel agents. It appears that cazenove+loyd are the exception”

As every one of the holidays we create is unique, all of our clients come back with different and interesting stories. We love to hear from our clients on their return to find out about their most memorable moments. We from c+l are also always travelling to our destinations and every trip allows us to refine and add value to our clients' future experiences. Below is a selection of ones that we think stand out as ‘extraordinary’.

An Adventure of a Lifetime

At the banks of the Pacuare River filled with excitement and apprehension, we were given helmets, life jackets and instructions for the white-water rafting. With much enthusiasm and at the shout from Tito, our specialist guide, we paddled left forward then right forward and started our exhilarating journey down stream in the white waters of the Pacuare River.

Our relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and the teams are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

Alfredo golcher solis

tailor-made guided holiday to Costa Rica

With almost 25 years under his belt working in tourism and 15 years as a guide, few know Costa Rica as well as Alfredo. There are few parts of the country that he has not worked or guided in and he has also taken clients into neighbouring Nicaragua and Panamá which are fast becoming destinations every bit as interesting as his native Costa Rica.

But it is a love of all things Cost Rica which make time spent in Alfredo’s company so invigorating: he has taken courses on tropical plants in the INBio (National Biodiversity Institute) and showing off the varied and rich natural habitats and particularly the birds of Cost Rica is always something which lights up this born enthusiast and proves contagious to even the most ‘world weary’.

The choice of what is best for the client is our only consideration

pacuare lodge

costa rica rainforest lodge

Nowhere else in the world does a holiday begin with such an exhilarating experience, as you raft down the jungle-encased Pacuare River to reach the secluded rainforest lodge that appears enigmatically as if created by nature herself on the river banks of the Pacuare, in one of the most unexplored regions of Costa Rica.

punta islita

Costa Rica luxury accomodation punta islita

Located on the Pacific Coast of the Nicoya Peninsula, Punta Islita is a real draw for its stunning sea views from the vantage point of the hillside on which it’s perched, surrounded by farmland and forest. A short walk through mango groves and the beach appears, opening out onto endless waters. Staying here is remarkably peaceful.
