An Escorted Journey

With Henrietta Loyd
SOLD OUT

In February 2017 our co-owner and founder, Henrietta Loyd would like to invite you to join her in discovering the music, colour and contemporary art of Cuba. Henrietta has led four incredibly successful trips to Cuba

Using her personal contacts and friends she made during her travels throughout this Caribbean island, she has designed an extraordinary journey that combines visiting Havana and the small, UNESCO protected town of Trinidad.

Henrietta has arranged private dinners with Cuba’s most exciting artists and has put together meetings with some of the best musicians, art collectors and dancers in Havana. She will open doors for you that are completely off the tourist trail and allow you to access Cuba in a unique way.

To say Cuba is special is to understate its exceptional charm. From the moment you step into Havana’s streets, and walk past the mix of age-stained, weather-beaten buildings and beautifully restored Colonial architecture, you will be seduced.

Cubans are fun, friendly and, with a heady mix of Latin American and Caribbean style, they have inspired and created one of today’s most evocative contemporary art scenes.

Above all, Henrietta wants this week to be fun and stimulating. She has selected the same vibrant mix of salsa dancing, contemporary art and fascinating culture that first made her fall in love with the country. The hotels are simple but they are also utterly charming and Henrietta will introduce you to the restaurants and home cooking where the food is creative and delicious.

As we all know, this wonderful country will not remain as it is forever. If you want to see the real, raw and untouched Cuba as it is today; now is the time to go, and this is the way to do it.

Guides

Henrietta Loyd

A curiosity for discovering new places and people is what first took Henrietta Loyd abroad when she was 19. She spent 3 years exploring Africa at a time when it was still relatively unknown as a tourist destination. It was here that her interest in travel became her passion and her understanding of what it takes to create a memorable holiday experience comes from a lifetime dedicated to her trade.

Henrietta’s draw to Cuba comes from her love of people. She believes that above all life should be fun and full of colour and music and laughter. She was overwhelmed by the warm, friendly nature of the Cubans and how happy they were to share every aspect of who they are and what they do. This came from the gallery owners who thought nothing of opening up on a Sunday morning for a private visit, to one of Cuba’s most recognised theatre directors, who was thrilled to sit with Henrietta during a dance rehearsal and chat about the production as if they had known each other for years.
