Explore the Wine lands of South Africa

Driving around the green, leafy promenade-like roads in South Africa’s wine country is beautiful whichever way you look at it. Long gravel driveways which wind round perfectly straight rows of grapevines lead to white-walled, gabled colonial houses which stand proudly against their mountain backdrop.

The main draw to this area is obviously the wine. The industry has grown in huge proportions in the past decades and there are some stunning estates which with our help you can discover. We are quite sure that the wine tastes better when it is drunk in its home environment; “best drunk chilled”, should read “best drunk chilled, under a sun-dappled terrace, overlooking the vineyards”.

We have long-standing relationships with guides who we trust and who we know will show their guests the best of the area, away from the well-trodden tourist trails in the region. Go on a guided wine tasting tour on horse-back and take in the breath-taking views between visits to local wine estates where the owners will welcome you as friends. Or sample some of the best cuisine in the world at one of the many acclaimed restaurants in the area. Franschoek is teeming with exquisite art galleries and chic cafés for relaxed morning wanders and close by the Butterly Gardens watching the butterflies flutter through the botanical gardens will keep your children amused for hours.

The Winelands have much to offer, the landscape dramatic and the wine arguably some of the best in the world, but get under the skin of the area with our help and you will discover a peaceful world far beyond the vines.
