EMBARK ON AN UNFORGETTABLE
WILDLIFE JOURNEY IN UGANDA

Africa + Indian Ocean

Uganda

mountain Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, mist-wreathed mountains, rich game viewing

With its amazing topographical contrasts - from open savannah plains to dense rainforest and tall, mist-wreathed mountains – Uganda provides the setting for an incredible African journey.  Its most famous residents – the mountain gorillas of Bwindi and Mgahinga – are just one of Uganda’s extraordinary range of primates, birds and mammals.

There are some hidden gems here too (although you’ll need an expert to show you where they are): imagine for instance, an area that looks just like the Masai Mara, with even richer game – and then imagine having it all, entirely to yourself.

This is a place to come with expert guidance, an adventurous spirit and a sense of humor: there are few good lodges, bone-shaking roads and efficient service is an oxymoron - although the Ugandan people’s tremendous joie de vivre makes it easy to forgive with the right attitude. With the Idi Amin years now a distant memory, Uganda is making real efforts with conservation and poaching – once rampant - appears to have been considerably reduced.

Best visited: July to October and December to April

All itineraries are individually designed, but as an indication, we can arrange ten days in Uganda (excluding  international flights) from $6800 per person.

Guides

Our relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and the teams are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

david simpson

safari guide

specialist safari guide Uganda

With a wealth of experience working in some of the most remote parts of Africa, David lives and breathes safari, no matter how extreme the environment.  Having spent much time operating safaris into the deep forest of Rwanda and Uganda, tracking Mountain Gorilla, his confidence feeds across to his clients and he will have you exploring in an intrepid way you might not have anticipated.  At cazenove+loyd we love this ability to push the boundaries, making safari that much more rewarding and even life-changing.

A specialist in photography, with David you will not only learn about the environment but also improve your skills behind the camera.  David is passionate about authentic safari, away from the luxuries found in some of the new breed of luxury lodge and clients leave with enlivened senses and with a new outlook on life.  This is what we think is an extraordinary vacation and David will provide this, a passion so rare in modern day safari.

Uganda and Rwanda are refreshingly wild, the fauna and flora are unspoilt and in particular the mountain gorilla, found nowhere else in the world, is even more special encountered with David by your side. The right guide is paramount to a safari in this region and we have wholehearted trust that David will make your safari the ultimate experience for you.
