Africa + Indian Ocean

Hot-air ballooning over the Masai mara, camel-treking, private game viewing

The migratory herds and ‘big sky’ of the Masai Mara, the tropical rainforest, the North Frontier’s rugged mountain terrain, and the sugar-white beaches reaching into the depths of the Indian Ocean…almost a microcosm of Africa, with its incredible array of landscapes and abundant wildlife, Kenya’s richness and diversity will satisfy even the hungriest traveler – regardless of whether you’re an Africa 'first-timer' or already know the continent.

Kenya is leading the way in responsible tourism and many of the lodges and camps are now heavily involved with community projects.

Developed by safari operators in conjunction with the local tribes, this admirable system is designed to preserve the country’s natural resources, while delivering real and lasting benefit to the tribal communities. Our carefully sought out, owner-run camps, set in spectacular areas of the country, offer an authentic, ecologically and socially responsible, highly comfortable and, above all, deeply memorable, safari experience.

Best visited: July to October and December to March

All itineraries are individually designed, but as an indication, we can arrange ten days in Kenya (excluding international flights) from $6800 per person.

“We had an incredible first safari to Kenya and Tanzania thanks to cazenove+loyd. We look forward to our next adventure with c+l.”

a private WALKING safari in the Masai Mara

Masai Mara kenya safari experts

The Masai Mara is the most famous National Park in Kenya, home to the ‘Big 5’, and the scene of the annual migratory crossings of the Mara River. It offers the best game viewing in the country and is renowned for good cat sightings. Its best lodges are small and intimate tented camps, many still owner run. They stand apart because of their excellent guides and very personal service.

More and more we are finding people choosing to end their vacation with some time in a ranch style lodge in the Laikipia region rather than going to the coast. There are so many activities on offer that you can happily spend five nights without getting bored and beautiful swimming pools provide the perfect spot for some R&R. This works particularly well for families and the guides love to get out there and have fun in nature's playground.

Kerry Glen

guided walking safari Africa

Kerry has safari in her blood, having been brought up in Kenya accompanying her parents and brother on safaris all over East Africa. She comes from a fine heritage, her father was the well-known sculptor, Robert Glen and her interest in the natural world extended to her education having studied Environmental and Geographical Sciences at the University of Cape Town.

With Kerry’s creative flair, she went on to build the renowned lodge, Sabuk in Laikipia, from where she guided adventurous walking safaris and camel hikes, leading clients through some of the most stunning and rugged country in Kenya.  Her daredevil spirit is infectious and with Kerry you never know what you might find yourself doing next.

One client recalls seeing a herd of elephant drinking in the river and proceeding to get into the water to join them, swimming up close and observing them from behind some rocks and rapids so they did not know Kerry and her group were there.
On another occasion, mountain biking early in the morning, Kerry found her clients amongst a herd of zebra and Grant’s Gazelles and tried to overtake them as they pedaled faster along the dusty track.

A safari with Kerry Glen is exhilarating and unpredictable, but her talent is enormous, which is why we love her so much.

The choice of what is best for the client is our only consideration
