In deciding where you want to go, you need to know the pros and cons of each destination. And once you know where you want to go, you want to talk to someone who knows that destination from personal experience.
We have three distinct teams of ‘Destination Experts’. It is their job to live and breathe their region of expertise. Africa+Indian Ocean, Central+South America and South+South East Asia are our three regions of expertise.
Their focus means that they can take the time to understand you and match you to the people, experiences and places in each destination which are right for you.

Because our Destination Experts only deal with one region of the world, they are up to date with what is going on. They talk to guides and lodge/hotel owners in our destinations every day of the week. And they talk to our clients on their return.
It’s not just about choosing somewhere to stay, that is just the beginning. We are always working on ways to improve the way we plan and deliver each holiday even while you are in the destination. If we can change things then we change them for the better. We have chosen to work in regions of the world which are more challenging than most and our knowledge of how things work (and how to fix them if they do not) allows us to make your holiday work perfectly.

A holiday is a very precious time and getting it right truly adds value. As an independent tour operator, we are able to be 100% objective. As specialists in a region, we dedicate a lot of time to identifying which people and places work and why. And because the people we work with in each destination know what we expect, they go that extra mile for our clients.
It is often the special touches which count-a dinner set up in a beautiful location or a surprise upgrade to the best suite. And they know that if they do not deliver, we do not work with them.
Our experience on the ground means that we know how to get the most out of every hour of every day.........that is true added value.

Your money is safe.
We are fully bonded with the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL no: 3208). This means that the money you spend with us and the holiday you book with us is not at risk in case of business failure.
Particularly in the regions where we operate or in times of economic uncertainty, travelling with an established and fully bonded tour operator is absolutely fundamental. Most operators (and many in the UK) have very limited or no protection of this kind.
It is not just in times of business failure that a good tour operator delivers. Recent events from volcanic ash clouds to airline strikes have meant that we have ‘been there’ both financially and with immediate alternative plans and practical advice. We would be happy to refer you to clients who can vouch for our service and support ‘in extremis’.

Since winning the award in 2007, we have been in the top 5 Favourite Specialist Tour Operators in Condé Nast Traveller’s reader’s awards. In 2010 we were the runner up in the category as well as coming top due to our level of expertise.
Most of our business, however, still arrives through personal recommendation. This is our most important measure of success.

We are passionate about the three regions of the world where we work. We work with people in those destinations who are equally committed. Many lodges and operators we work with (particularly in wilderness areas of Africa, Latin America and Asia) are vital to the protection of habitat. If it were not for tourism income and the eyes and ears of those on the ground, valuable habitat would be destroyed.
Tourism is an important employer and we work with small, owner-run operations who have a policy to recruit and train locally as well as sourcing local products.
Responsible tourism is a continual journey and we will always try to support those who practice it and strive to practice it ourselves.
We are active members of Tourism Concern’s Ethical Tour Operators Group. The charities which we currently support- Tusk, Rainforest Concern and ITNC -are all small, focussed charities which operate at grass roots level.

Started 20 years ago by Susie Cazenove and Henrietta Loyd out of a passion for Africa, cazenove+loyd is still owner-run. This is important. It means that someone is always in the office that has a vested interest in delivering the very best. We are as passionate about being the best as we were when we first opened our doors.

Headed up by Claire Dicken (with of course the support of Henrietta Loyd who started the company and Hattie Goodley who ran the team for three years before she took over the reins), Africa has always been the biggest part of the business.
Relationships count for a lot and we still work with some of the same people we have worked with for twenty years. There is also constant change and Claire and her team are always reviewing and adding to the experiences which they can offer and the lodges, hotels and guides they work with.

Headed up by Lucy Slater but with Emily Stephenson in place when Lucy’s family commitments require; the Latin American business was started by Christopher Wilmot-Sitwell over ten years ago. He still takes a keen interest in an area which is always challenging and exciting.
Tourism in much of Central+South America (and Mexico) is still very raw but it is also a day to day task to ‘go beyond’ and to find new ways and fresh guides. They deliver in the remote areas where infrastructure is less reliable but it is also a special skill to get under the skin of the better known areas which are still ‘must sees’ in many itineraries.

Started by Christopher Wilmot-Sitwell ten years ago, South+South East Asia has proven an incredibly popular ‘region’.
Headed up by Alex Townsend, the team’s previous emphasis on India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal and The Maldives has successfully expanded over the years to include areas in South East Asia too.
Supported by Sabrina Cator who has in depth knowledge of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, as well as Louise Huntington who brings fresh ideas to Sri Lanka, Nepal and Oman, Alex and her team play an integral part in developing our destination knowledge each year.
We are already developing relationships and experiences in one more Asian destination.........but we will keep it under wraps until it is fully developed. We never like to rush things out until we are confident that we offer something different and better.
