Two new South American Journeys
Publication: JetsettersblogDate: October 4, 2010
cazenove+loyd are offering two new discoveries in South America: board the train across Atacama Desert and ride by horseback through the Argentine Andes.
The train ride weaves through the dunes and salt basins of Atacama, a 100km insightful exploration from Iquique to Pintados. You will be provided a truly traditional experience with first class and second class carriages built in the 1930s and latter in the 1960s respectively. The train passes ancient cemetaries, ancient towns from the mining age, local towns and then to see the well-known geoglyphs, home to inspiring drawings of wildlife and landscapes within the region. The train concludes at the salt basins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005.
The 6-day horse ride in the Andes incorporates great discovery past sand dunes, waterfalls, vineyards, mountains and lakes. The ride has a new camp as its base, 2,400 metres above sea level where you can stay in luxury making use of the services available: double beds, heating, bathrooms, hot showers and electricity. Rides will take place from New Year-March 2011 which will also include bilingual guides where you will form a group of up to 14 riders.
Both adventures can be accomodated in a personalised itinerary by cazenove+loyd with the train ride costing £156 pp and the horseback ride at £2,200 pp. Call cazenove+loyd today on 020 7384 2332 or via email.
