Renovated houses in Ladakh, north India, offers a thrilling alternative to hotel accommodation. From Shakti village house roofs, sights such as snow-crested peaks of Stok Kangri, breathtaking roads and high-altitude deserts are observable.

Though traditional, three houses are modernised along the Indus Valley with rugs, scatter cushions and insightful views providing the setting for scenic discoveries. You can also see the Tikse monastery with monks visible with shining solar rays beaming onto Zanskar and Ladakh mountains. Tikse also bears the world's tallest, most scenic wishing well, an attraction that should be taken advantage of with the other side of the Indus Valley being a darker mood.

Next stop, hiking through challenging obstace-ridden, barley fields which concludes at a deep ravine where creeping sands and overarching rocks bear resemblances to the Namibian desert. In addition, pass the Khardung La, the highest pass that vehicles can drive on worldwide. Tikse monestary But Shaktin provides an intimate, exciting experience with stunning agricultural valleys, north of Indus visible, with terraced fields also carrying a strong emerald and ochre forest presence. With scarce visitor visits, being in such an exclusive, intimate place is a true luxury. Finally, Lolo shows what traditional life has to offer with irrigation channels and women roasting barley and elders recording farmland with beads. Final stop at Nimu supplies breathtaking views of naturally formed rocks.
