Geographically straddling the equator, Malaysia is separated into the Malaysian peninsula and Borneo by the South China Sea. One of the most biodiverse places in the world, the thick jungle covers most of the land mass and is estimated to contain 20% of all animal species in the world. The natural wealth found here could keep a naturalist occupied for a dozen lifetimes.
Sepilok in Borneo, is one of only four Orangutan sanctuaries in the world, offering a rare insight into the intimate lives of these wild creatures. Trekking up to the highest mountain in the region, Mount Kinabalu in the Cameron Highlands, and its cool and mild climate of offers a refreshing break from the high humidity of the tropics.
A dazzling array of beaches leaves sun seekers spoilt for choice. The East coasts and islands offer unexplored Robinson Crusoe beaches backing onto dense jungle, while Langkawi offers creature comforts combined with world-class hotels.
