Europe’s most sparsely populated country is an awe-inspiring destination for adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. The land of fire and ice is calling.

Why travel to Iceland

Plan your luxury holidays in Iceland to explore geysers, volcanoes, geothermal lagoons, spectacular waterfalls and breathtaking scenery. We design unforgettable experiences, such as securing private access to a stunning ice cave, where you will feast on delicious food prepared by your own chef and sip Brennivin, Iceland’s signature spirit, from ice glasses.

Do you have a particular passion you’d like to explore? Simply speak to our Iceland specialists who can suggest the best places to visit in Iceland whether you’re planning a show-stopping luxury honeymoon or family holiday in Iceland.

For winter adventures, such as glacier walking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog-sledding and witnessing the magical Northern Lights, we recommend travelling between November and March. Between June and August is the best time for exploring Reykjavík, hiking, horse riding or visiting volcanoes, geothermal pools and lava tunnels.

Local lowdown

If you travel around the Golden Circle, you will eventually visit Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park. Its impressive landscape is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site. And it’s not because the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet here, but because of its outstanding historical significance. Þingvellir is where Icelandic chieftains met in the year 930 CE to create the first parliament, the Alþingi (or ‘Althing’ to English-speakers).

Cultural insight

A popular dish of Iceland is hangikjöt (smoked mutton), the traditional meal on Christmas Day. The name and curing method originate in Iceland’s Viking age settlement era when meat was preserved by hanging it in a smokehouse. Hangikjöt, which means “hung meat” in Icelandic, is savory smoked lamb.
