Africa + Indian Ocean
A fantastic choice for first-time safari-goers and seasoned travellers alike
Kenya is almost a microcosm of Africa, with its incredible array of landscapes and abundant wildlife. From the migratory herds of the Masai Mara, to the dense tropical rainforest, the North Frontier’s rugged mountain terrain, and the sugar-white beaches that fringe the Indian Ocean, its richness and diversity will satisfy any traveller.
Kenya is also leading the way in responsible tourism and many of the Kenyan safari lodges and camps are now heavily involved with community projects. Developed by safari operators in conjunction with the local tribes, this admirable relationship is designed to preserve the country’s natural resources, while delivering real and lasting benefit to the tribal communities.
All of cazenove+loyd’s safari and wildlife holidays in Kenya are based around conservation, as without responsible tourism the projects that protect animals and their habitat simply would not and could not exist. Our contacts on the ground mean that clients can gain a real insight into these essential and moving projects.
The carefully sought out, owner-run safari camps that we select for our clients are set in spectacular areas of Kenya, offering an authentic, ecologically and socially responsible, highly comfortable and, above all, deeply memorable, safari experience.

From the moment you leave home, we will be on hand to ensure a totally seamless experience.
We work in some of the most ecologically and culturally sensitive parts of the world, so have always been conscious of operating in a way that has a positive impact on both the environment and the people.
When you travel with us, we will make a contribution on your behalf to one of the following charities: All About the Light Foundation in Africa, ABOUTAsia Travel & Schools in Cambodia, the Alalay Foundation in Bolivia and Scott Polar Research Institute in the Polar Regions.
If clients are interested, we are always keen to get them involved in local projects and conservation efforts. Whether it be whale counting in Antarctica or rhino relocation in Kenya, you will leave knowing your actions have made a difference.
Our service includes booking and managing all your international and domestic flights. However, you can also book your own international flights if you would prefer. We can also organise private charters and private jet travel for both international and domestic flights.
We have a fantastic VIP service in place to help you navigate the airport and make your journey as smooth and easy as possible. We can collect you from your home, take you to the airport and escort you through check-in and immigration to avoid any queues, straight through to the airport lounge before boarding your flight. The same service can be put in place on your return journey.
We understand that one of the most important factors to our clients is flexibility to give you as much assurance as possible when booking your next trip. We are extremely flexible and are on hand to discuss with you the latest updates on flexibility in any one of our destinations.
We have excellent relationships with a handful of insurance companies who provide various forms of cover. Each one offers a different policy with varying terms and conditions, so we strongly recommend getting a series of quotes and discussing your personal requirements in detail with them in order to find the best one for you.
Booking and travelling with an accredited tour operator is more important than ever. cazenove+loyd is a bonded tour operator and is ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Our ATOL number is 3208. This means that the UK government guarantees all funds paid out to a bonded operator and is bound to pay in full if the bond holder is unable to deliver as contracted. This gives our clients peace of mind and full financial protection. Please see our booking conditions for further information.
We have put the relevant measures in place so that our destinations are ready to welcome you safely. In all of our destinations, sanitation and hygiene in our vehicles and the properties we work with are extensive, with cleaning protocols rigidly followed as well as other necessary safety requirements. We always arrange private vehicles and guides for our clients when travelling in a destination.
The price of our service is dependent on the intricacies of the itinerary. No two trips are the same. Our philosophy is to make every detail tailored just to you.

Stories from Kenya
"We made it to the Mugie School. It was delightful and the children were so excited to do some drama. Thank you for setting this up – the whole holiday was beyond our hopes. The area was magical and the Ekorian's Mugie Camp and its staff were amazing – great game drives, delicious food, so much to do and see – with lots of R & R too."
Our holiday was a huge success... It was very well organised and we stayed at two great camps. Millie was a great ambassador for cazenove+loyd. What I like about your organisation is the attention to detail and pragmatic advice, as evident in Kenya as it was in Chile and Patagonia last year. For example, by spending a bit of extra money on a private transfer from Lamu to Lewa, we avoided two commercial flights and a long wait in Nairobi, which created an extra day's holiday and made us feel like VIPs. You tuned in quickly to the sort of places we might like to stay in and sourced some hidden gems. At Cottars, we even received a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite, which thrilled me if not my wife!
"We totally fell in love with the beautiful Masai people."
Both Ekorian's Mugie Camp and Cottars surpassed our expectations and in every area of the holiday – the tents, the food, the staff, the locations, the wildlife and the finest guides and spotters you can possibly hope for – we have had the most amazing family holiday ever. Off to the coast now for some R & R.
"I'm so grateful to Henrietta Loyd for persuading me to take the children to Africa now."
"We have just arrived home and we miss Africa already!"
“I hope you received my letter - an attempt to express how grateful we all are to you for creating just an unbelievable experience for us in Kenya. Nick and I look forward to working with you in the future!”
“One thing I must say is Hemings, as they call it here, has the most fabulous beds and bedding and their pillows' granny goose feather are quite the best I've ever slept with.”
"Forgive my lengthy silence and a belated, if very sincere, thank you, for a wonderful two weeks in Kenya. Challenging but great fun, as ever. I love Laikipia and was very impressed with Serian but my absolute favourite of all our trips was Naibor Wilderness - buffalo, lions and hippos included. That is my kind of camp and provided a lot of the excitement of the trip (see the diary when it comes)."
My first trip organised by Henrietta Loyd was an African safari to Kenya for my sister and me back in 2000. It was a traditional and memorable Out of Africa experience for a first-time visit: three amazing camps and a close-up view of the great wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara.
My latest cazenove+loyd adventure was a return to Africa in June 2018, this time to Zambia (on a walking safari), Victoria Falls and Botswana (the Okavango Delta and the Kalahari Desert). The plan was for three of us – two dear friends (a married couple) and myself. My friends have dietary restrictions and the food arrangements were all in place, as was everything else. But at the very last minute, they had to cancel. Henrietta handled all of the logistics but also made arrangements so that my solo trip would still be friendly wherever I went. And it was. I had special attention from the staff in each camp. There was a bottle of Champagne waiting at the hotel in Victoria Falls. I was introduced to another client staying at the same hotel, so I had dinner partners one evening. These are the small touches that set Henrietta apart. But the mainstay of my travels – the flights and transfers, camps, guides, food, walking safaris, game-viewing and the people I met – these are unforgettable and everything I have come to expect from Henrietta and the entire team at cazenove+loyd.
Honestly, I can’t thank you enough for such a FABULOUS holiday. It really was absolutely wonderful and we all loved it.
It was actually a clever holiday as Topi gave everyone a chance to really relax. Fred was marvellous and I truly never expected to get so close to all the animals. Again, food and drink everywhere and Isaac gave the children his chocolate brownie recipe, which went down very well. They are dancing about crowing that David Attenborough stayed there... Thanks a million for all your help.
I am addicted. I want to go back with my oil box and spend a month there out in the bush. They had made the most brilliant easels at Sosian and bought us the watercolour pads and brushes and everything, which really was fantastic, and we all sat under the treehouse on Christmas Day painting by the lake. There were some lovely Swiss people there at the same time, with young children too, so they all played together – tennis and cards and jumping off the waterfalls. Molly and William adored seeing all the animals and would have been happy just driving about through the rivers on top of the Land Rover and being allowed to operate the light on the night drives. Josh and Minna looked after us quite beautifully. We rode (Mum at 81 as well, about which she was v pleased with herself), camels and horses, although I would have liked to have done more. Our stupid decision not to get on with it. Molly rode three times and at least made the most of it. Food delicious, masses of it and gin on tap... I absolutely adored the whole thing.
We had a really wonderful time, thanks to your brilliant organisation. Thank you a million! It all went so smoothly and we saw every sort of wildlife, except rhino. A leopard twice! I went riding, would you believe? All the accommodation was lovely. David Attenborough had had my bedroom at Topi the week before. All the guides and staff everywhere were so welcoming and looked after us brilliantly. I shall run out of superlatives if I go on!
We’re having a wonderful time! I’m so glad we had the chance to start in the north - experiencing the rhinos at Solio was so special and Albie has been excellent so far at Sosian! The sunrise hike up to the top of the rock provided spectacular views…including a large group of giraffes. September is an excellent time to travel! So many baby animals right now too!
