South Korea

The main allure for most people who are travelling to South Korea is Seoul, one of the continent’s most exciting cities. With magnificent palaces, temples and shrines alongside contemporary skyscrapers, the South Korean capital is an incredible mix of old and new – of tradition and modernity. The vibrant city’s rich history spans as far back as 18BC when it was known as Wiryeseong, and its colourful past includes many regime changes, conflicts, prosperity, liberation and dynastic rule.

Israel

For travellers interested in religion, geopolitics and food, there can be no destination more thrilling than Israel. This captivating nation of contrasts is simultaneously ancient, modern and wonderfully diverse, with its complexity stemming from its important geographic location between Asia, Africa and Europe. Bhutan

One doesn’t need to go far in Bhutan to get off the beaten track and have an experience like nowhere else on Earth. The word ‘authentic’ has become overused in travel, but Bhutan reminds me of the true meaning of cultural authenticity. The classic view of the Buddhist mountain kingdom is of its dzongs and their spectacular backdrops, but on my recent trip, I worked with specialist guides to develop different and exclusive cultural experiences to scratch below the surface of this fascinating and beautiful country.

My next destination is...

Australasia

My division at cazenove+loyd will be launching Australia and New Zealand in the summer of 2019. Both of these destinations offer the discerning traveller some of the most exciting and luxurious accommodation in the world. We have invaluable contacts in both countries to go above and beyond the existing parameters of high-end tourism. On my trip in the spring, I will be meeting expert guides and fine-tuning our amazing experiences and private access to ensure our itineraries are unparalleled in the industry.

Central India

If you like to be ahead of the curve, this region – which spans the enormous state of Madhya Pradesh as well as the tribal areas of Chattisgarh and the little-known coastal state of Orissa is a fantastic option.

Of course, while being underdeveloped has many benefits, it also means that you’ll need the help of insider knowledge to be sure of getting the best from your luxury trip.

China

A trip to China is simply transformative. Offering a culture, history, and way of life so different to ours and very much its own - the experience for the visitor can be overwhelming. Despite its dominance in today’s world, China has historically remained underdeveloped as a luxury travel destination. This is now changing and we have developed new ways of experiencing the country that are off-the-beaten-track and authentic, yet retain total comfort.

Indonesia

With more than 18,000 islands scattered across nearly eight million square kilometres of tropical ocean, Indonesia embodies an extraordinary variety of geography and hundreds of distinct island cultures. Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumba and Moyo to name but a few – all have individual characteristics and need to be approached in different ways, with specialist advice on each.

Japan

Most first-time visitors to Japan have an abstract idea of this destination, with thoughts of bright neon lights and quiet blossom-filled gardens. You can read endlessly about Japan, watch countless films and documentaries, or immerse yourself in Japanese art and cuisine in preparation, but once you arrive you will still be overwhelmed by the ‘real thing’. This is a country that cannot just be studied, but must be experienced first-hand – one that more than lives up to the hype.

Laos

One of Asia’s most culturally diverse and fascinating countries, Laos is home to over one hundred tribal and ethnic groups and is a land of ancient wats and a traditional way of life. Here emerald rice paddies plummet into the waters of the Mekong and monks in saffron robes walk the colonial streets of Luang Prabang.

Still relatively unspoiled by the modern world, it’s easy to see why travellers are charmed by Laos and we use our specialist knowledge here to help you gain an insight into a way of life fast disappearing in Asia.
