Japan has a fascinating and diverse culture. A few particular highlights for me were exploring Kenroku-en, one of the oldest gardens of Japan, hiking some hidden trails on the mystical island of Miyajima, and gaining a deeper insight into Japan’s recent history, with my private guide in Hiroshima.
I am off to explore the stunning Himalayan valleys, ancient monastery’s and fascinating culture of this land closed off from the modern world. And to meet some of the world’s happiest people.
"I do want to put on record that this was probably the best trip we have ever been on as a family, and was certainly the best organised, and thought through. Given that teenage boys of 16 and 20 are not known for getting up at 5:30am, let alone with 6 hours jetlag, to watch monks walking silently along a road; or at 4:30am to watch the sun fail to emerge from behind clouds an hour later; and that their parents have reached an age where 75% humidity and unrelenting temperatures of over 32c create even more childish bickering between us than usual, that is quite a feat."
"I don't know to what extent you pushed the boat out for us even more than I am sure you usually do, but thank you. Dinner at Les Mandarines in Saigon was just one of many treats, all were very much appreciated. We will be recommending cazenove+loyd, and especially Laos Cambodia and Vietnam, to anyone that is prepared to listen."
"Thank you so much, we really had the trip of a lifetime. We will definitely be in touch later in the year when we want to go on our next adventure."
