Why I love Kudadoo Maldives Private Island + Six Senses Laamu

With its private island retreats, chalk-white beaches and warm Indian Ocean waters, the Maldives is undoubtedly a dream destination for those looking to unwind in a secluded tropical paradise. I was recently lucky enough to travel to Kudadoo Maldives Private Island and Six Senses Laamu with cazenove+loyd, spending four nights at each, and was blown away by their beauty.

Our visit to Kudadoo was incredible. We had such a restorative time there. Our villa and its design (the architectural wiz of the amazing Yuji Yamazaki) was stunning. Everything Kudadoo provides is in the true word AAA: anything, anytime, anywhere. What a special and truly spoiling environment!

For me, the whole guest experience was first-class from start to finish. Everyone from our butler, Kaushur, and the food-and-drink team to the spa ladies and the groundsmen was always friendly and most welcoming. Boy did they give us holiday-makers a first-rate seamless service! I particularly enjoyed seeing ‘the power hub’ that is the island’s very eco-conscious and clever roof harnesses. Wow was that impressive!

    Kudadoo

Following Kudadoo, we continued to Six Senses Laamu, where we had the most unbelievable time. Not only was this place simply beautiful but its feel and atmosphere in general was hypnotic. Our water villa was a joy to spend time in: its layout was so stylish and the room was incredibly comfortable. The beds were fabulous too, but personally, what I loved most about the water villa was that it enabled me to be instantly at one with the reef and ocean. What an experience!

So many people individually played a part in ensuring that our stay was as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. However, I was particularly impressed by the room staff who cared for our villa and its contents to the highest standard, twice a day. I could not fault anything – Bitto and his team deserve a 10 out of 10. The laundry team was brilliant too. To receive your clothing back so beautifully taken care off was an utter treat and the fact they managed to remove an oil mark from a much-loved dress certainly got both thumbs up. The entire food-and-drink team was also superb. Words escape me! The choice of food and spots to eat was wide-ranging – not to mention utterly delicious.

Then there was our GEM (or Guest Experience Maker) – and what a gem Abdulla was! Nothing was too much trouble and I noticed during our stay that all the GEMs had the same attention to detail and care that a top-notch resort such as Laamu provides naturally from the heart. Finally, there was Marteyne, the general manager, whose kindness and time during our holiday was hugely appreciated... I congratulate her in her role in mentoring and supporting this extraordinary environment, with all the joys and complexities it holds.

    Kudadoo

Overall, cazenove+loyd’s expertise and advice were exceptional and we adored our visits to Kudadoo Maldives Private Island and Six Senses Laamu. They are very special places indeed and I could not recommend them more highly.

Lying in the Indian Ocean nearly 2000km from the south-east coast of Africa, Mauritius is a wonderful, remote destination for a family holiday. With warm weather year-round, it is a brilliant place to travel for some winter sun.
All great travel is about contrast: relaxation blended with exhilaration. So why not pair a holiday to the Maldives with one of the following extraordinary destinations?
“Deep sea fishing!”, Will excitedly shouted at me from across the beach where I was happily sprawled out on my very comfortable sun bed. “I’ve put our names down for deep sea fishing”.
