We know that now, more than ever, it is important to feel well looked after by a trusted and safe pair of hands, which is what we are. While you are away, we are on hand 24/7, constantly in contact with those on the ground – proactive and reactive to the flow of the trip to ensure everything runs smoothly.
With cazenove+loyd, you speak to just one expert who will look after you from the initial conversation to the moment you return home. Building a relationship with you and getting to know you is crucial and something we have always spent time doing in order to get it right and be able to create holidays of a lifetime. From the initial conversation, we begin to build your ideas into a holiday, continuously tweaking during the planning process to deliver extraordinary, unique experiences. We collaborate with you in exactly the way you wish, whether that is by meeting face to face (from a safe distance), talking on the phone or chatting via email – or a combination of all three – to ensure we grasp exactly what you want to get out of your trip. Many people come to us with little idea of where they want to go, but through talking to our experts they come to realise an adventure they had not even dreamt of.
Unparalleled knowledge + experience
Although a small team, we have nearly 200 years of expertise between us. This means nearly 200 years of knowledge, experience and connections. We are always reshaping our service and offering in order to respond to how travel is changing. Our dynamic team has invaluable knowledge of how to get under the skin of some of our regions’ most exhilarating destinations and they have been reworking some of our best experiences to put your safety first.
Since Henrietta Loyd founded cazenove+loyd in 1993, her wealth of knowledge has been recognised worldwide. She has personally planned holidays for clients around the world for the past 27 years and her contacts span our regions.
“Travel is so important for so many reasons and there is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored,” says Henrietta. “Whether you want to collapse on an empty beach in The Seychelles, escape to the wilds of Tanzania or set off on a boat in New Zealand start planning now and we will design your dream journey. Personally, as soon as I can, I’ll be returning to Botswana where cazenove+loyd began, to take a deep breath and soak in the wilderness.”

Director + Co-Owner, Christopher Wilmot-Sitwell, is incredibly well travelled and knowledgeable on all our destinations. He has specialised in designing trips throughout our regions for the past 24 years. “Our clients’ safety, comfort and peace of mind is always at the forefront of our minds, but never more so than now in order to remove as many of the anxieties surrounding travel as possible so that all you have to worry about is enjoying your holiday,” says Chris.
“We are with you all the way.”
Our small team of experts work together very closely. Claire Ferguson, Head of our Africa + the Indian Ocean department, has lived in East Africa in her time and worked for cazenove+loyd for the past 20 years. During that time, she has planned countless trips for couples, honeymooners, sabbaticals, large multigenerational trips and more, as well as travelling extensively herself. “This is the longest I have been away from Africa in 20 years. Last year, I took my young family to South Africa to open their eyes to some of the continent’s treasures,” remembers Claire. “There are so many amazing private houses offering much-needed space and freedom that are perfect for families, and many activities that are made all the better by our brilliant handpicked guides. While London is our home, I cannot wait to take my children to Africa again – I am already planning a family trip to Kenya with them next year, where there are some wonderful, child-friendly camps that offer a wide range of experiences for all ages.”

Claire’s understanding of her clients’ needs is what makes her so successful at planning unforgettable adventures on the African continent and its neighbouring islands. She knows exactly where to go, matching your needs to her wide knowledge.
As our client, Penny Parker, once said: “Claire, thank you. Words cannot describe the experiences we had in Kenya. You interpreted all of our wants and needs and it truly was a trip of a lifetime and something we will all remember for many years to come. Thank you for suggesting the walking safari. You knew we were unsure but are so glad that you persuaded us to do it as it did indeed end up being the highlight of the trip!”
Alongside Claire on the Africa team are Millie Summers and Cara Maitland. Millie spent a year running camps in Zambia, Malawi and Kenya and has been working as a travel specialist planning extraordinary holidays since 2006. “In March, I was due to visit Madagascar, somewhere I have dreamt of going for many years,” says Millie. “I was incredibly excited about observing lemurs in the wild for the first time, spotting other indigenous species in the rainforest and experiencing Time + Tide Miavana, an incredible private island retreat on Nosy Ankao. I will visit as soon as it is safe to do so and cannot wait to share my experiences with our clients and create trips for them to this extraordinary country.”

Cara’s love of Africa grows with every trip. “I can think of nowhere I’d rather be following the lockdown than on a mobile expedition in the African bush, feeling as if I were the only person on earth,” she discloses. “I recently travelled to Zambia, which has definitely become one of my favourite countries. On my trip, I stayed at some amazing camps in Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa national parks and met some world-class guides. I have not yet had the chance to share my experiences with our clients and really look forward to doing so soon.”
Between Claire, Millie and Cara, this team has fantastic contacts, there is no lodge they have not visited or guide they do not know, and there are no better people best placed to plan your next special trip to Africa.
Running our Latin America + the Polar Regions team, Milly Warr has travelled all over the region and has a huge amount of experience in planning every kind of trip for every kind of client. “I’ve designed some very cool and spectacular honeymoons throughout Latin America, such as one that took in Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and Uruguay,” she recalls. “The clients wanted periods of total isolation, so I arranged for them to stay in a deluxe camper in the middle of the Bolivian salt flats without another soul in sight.”

“I always take such pleasure in poring over every detail and can’t wait to get my teeth into creating some more amazing and memorable trips for next year after so many lockdown engagements.”
Milly is supported by Co-Owner + Director, Christopher, with his long-standing knowledge of the region and little black book of contacts, and our Product Manager, Rachel Nicoll, who has 12 years’ experience behind her. Rachel has been making the most of the past few months to develop some incredible new experiences in all our regions, taking on board your valuable feedback from our client survey on what you will be looking for on your next trip. “I have been refining some exciting experiences in the polar regions,” explains Rachel. “In The Arctic, for example, I have been finessing a private snowshoeing adventure and a photography workshop in Finnish Lapland as well as a fascinating lunch with a Sami family in northern Sweden. This is just a taste of some of the many experiences that we are looking forward to planning for our clients.”
Penny Buckley has been at the helm of our Asia, the Middle East + Australasia team for the past seven and a half years, designing the very best trips in these regions. Her dedication, keen eye for detail and skill at matching our clients needs with the right destination for them is well known.
“My team and I are completely passionate about our destinations,” says Penny. “We thrive off sharing our knowledge and finding unparalleled experiences to suit our clients. We have been working hard over the past year on developing travel in the Middle East, a region that has become increasingly popular with our clients. Earlier this year, Venetia was blown away by Israel and Antonia is always finding new ways to explore Jordan and Egypt.”
Penny’s team of specialists includes Venetia Stanley and Antonia Black. Their passion matches Penny’s and between the three of them, their knowledge is second to none. They have their fingers on the pulse and know what it takes to design an extraordinary trip in their regions. “Japan and The Maldives – two of my favourite destinations – are ready and waiting for visitors now,” Venetia divulges. “I have been to Japan four times and couldn’t recommend it more. It is culturally fascinating, super-organised, exceptionally clean, completely safe and a wonderful change from normal life. The Japanese culture of omotenashi (meaning ‘hospitality’ or ‘service’) means you will be incredibly well looked after wherever you go. And The Maldives, of course, is just heaven. Nowhere compares to those otherworldly beaches and crystal-clear waters…”
